Remote working is mainstream now, but we’ve always been big fans of it. Parent Scheme is based in beautiful Durham, UK, but we have team members in Oxford, Wales, the south coast – and Australia.

Content manager

The content manager is a key role with responsibility at a strategic and operational level.

The role is responsible for delivering the big picture of content, in line with the Parent Scheme brand, vision and commercial context. It also demands attention to detail to ensure an excellent standard of writing across the Parent Scheme platform and materials.

Strategy

The role carries overall responsibility for the content strategy. This may include:

  • defining and driving content plans each year for both written and video content
  • matching resources available and future requirements to deliver content
  • motivating and engaging content writers with the content plan, including leading content days as required
  • coordinating content plan with animation and design teams to enable timely delivery of graphics with content
  • identifying gaps in existing content and plans to address
  • determining the appropriate medium for new content
  • evaluating quality of existing content
  • detailing areas for further development or improvement
  • liaising with development team as required to deliver content which needs platform development behind it
Editing

Comprehensive responsibility across Parent Scheme content ie. articles and videos as well as proposals and any other material carrying the Parent Scheme brand. Copy may be supplied by a combination of internal and freelance writers in accordance with a brief which the Head of Content may be involved in developing.

Writing

As required, specific writing projects to a brief — more likely to be complex, difficult to define or highly nuanced content rather than more generic projects.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for:

  • direction of brand and style guide
  • consistency of message, tone, style and brand, with particular responsibility to maintain Parent Scheme as a resource for parents who are working rather than a more general platform
  • providing feedback to writers to improve drafting and drive better content consistency
  • managing delivery of content through Clubhouse, ensuring timeliness and efficiency of process
  • final upload of signed off content through CMS
  • maintaining accuracy of tools e.g. dictionary, resources, parental leave calculators
Competencies:
  • Great at planning and scheduling with meticulous attention to detail
  • A quick learner with the ability to translate commercial concepts and needs into consumer facing materials that have a sense of fun
  • Able to coordinate numerous stakeholders (animators, graphic designers, content writers, account managers, social media)

Office manager

We’re looking for an office manager to come and be part of the Parent Scheme team. You will have responsibility for helping us with the day-to-day running of our business and for the smooth running of back office functions including invoicing, expenses, payroll and HR, and ad-hoc PA duties to the management team.

Responsibilities

Office management: Be the “go-to” person for the team, autonomously dealing with all essential day-to-day office issues and practical team queries. Support the management of our network of freelance coaches and experts.

PA support: Assist our management team, including managing diaries, scheduling staff appraisals, performance reviews and catch-ups.

Finance: Take responsibility for all day-to-day finance admin, including payroll, invoices and bank account reconciliation.

HR: Support the recruitment of new staff and lead and keep up-to-date on all HR-related tasks and policies including Health & Safety. Help with organising team events and away-days and the logistics of managing remote and office based workers.

Competencies
  • 5+ years of office management or EA/PA experience, with a desire to work in a small, close-knit team

  • Experience of G-Suite and Xero (or ability to learn quickly)

  • Great at planning and scheduling, enthusiastic, service-orientated, highly organised and with meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all levels of seniority

  • A quick learner, with common sense and transferable skills learnt in previous roles

  • Able to make independent decisions, manage priorities and find creative solutions to problems

  • Flexible, practical and calm in busy or stressful periods
